In May 2009, the Sri Lankan military launched a final offensive against the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, who had for more than 30 years fought for a homeland in the north and east of the country. Tens of thousands of Tamils were slaughtered. This panel discusses the background to Tamil national oppression, the ongoing abuses perpetrated by the Sri Lankan government and military and what next for the struggle for self-determination.
