Assessing recent experiences of left reformism

After decades of neoliberal attacks on the working class by parties of both left and right , rebuilding genuine left organisations and traditions was always going to be a difficult process. Almost a ten years into the post-GFC era, we've seen the emergence of left parties and figures in a range of countries, many of which have gained significant support. Each of these processes has had its unique dynamics, but the balance sheet across the board at this stage is largely negative. What can the left learn from these events? Is there still space for reformist politics in contemporary capitalism? And given their failures so far, what attitude should socialists take to such upsurges in the future?
