The Black Lives Matter movement has highlighted the ongoing, deep-seated racism of the US and all of its key institutions, and the unfinished business of the civil rights movement. This session will debunk current attempts to co-opt and neutralise the radical message of that movement and its leaders, including the great Martin Luther King. It will also explore the crucial question – what is the underlying source of this racism, and what will a modern movement need to look like today to end it once and for all?
