Can the environmental crisis be solved under capitalism? Every few years a wave of optimism sweeps the world, with political and corporate leaders trumpeting the beginning of the shift to a sustainable economy. Yet despite the decades of talks, of environmental protection regulations, of protocols and pledges for emissions reductions, the world is in a worse situation now than ever. This talk will assess the claims of the green capitalists against the reality of a system in which competition and profit rule.
