Hegemony is one of the most used and distorted concepts in academia. This session will explore this concept as the process by which class interests become universalised. Why has the question of hegemony been central to debates on revolution and socialism from the early days of the social democratic movement of Russia to Gramsci's Prison Notebooks in the 1930s? In this session it will be argued that hegemony is an indispensable concept in the fight for a better world.
