Much of the economic discussion in the business pages of the papers or in news bulletins is designed to make economics seem too complex for most of us to understand. The mainstream economic theory taught in schools and universities is no better. The concerns of Marxist economics are quite different. Marx aimed to understand the “laws of motion” of the system - not to achieve personal enrichment or to solve the day to day problems of the system, but to understand the weak points of capitalism, why it goes into crisis and how it could be overthrown. This session will provide an accessible introduction to this aspect of Marxism.
