Why are women and LGBTI+ people still oppressed today? There are more #girlbosses and rainbow flag logos than ever before but capitalism still propagates sexism, homophobia and transphobia. Attacks on abortion rights and ‘religious discrimination’ bills are just a few bigoted symptoms of a society that relies on gender and sexual norms for profitability and social control. This session will explore the relationship between gender and sexual oppression and capitalism, from the gender pay gap to the family unit.
