In the aftermath of the global financial crisis a number of far right parties and demagogues have emerged across the Western world. Donald Trump, Marine Le Pen, and many others aim to deflect legitimate anger and frustration at austerity and the corruption of the ruling classes towards immigrants and racial minorities. It is undeniable that they have had some success in doing so. How can we understand and combat this rising threat? And who is to blame for it?
