Wages are stagnant, union membership and strike rates are at historic lows, and the industrial laws are more repressive than ever. The ACTU-led ‘Change the Rules’ campaign quickly turned into a cynical and uncritical vote Labor effort, which can only lead to disaster. This panel will argue for an alternative approach based on militant, politically-engaged and locally rooted organising methods. The speakers include union reps from the NUW and NTEU who have years of experience in doing the work needed to rebuild our unions in a range of fields.
