Since the 20th century the Earth has seen fundamental changes to the environment due to human intervention. The heavy use of fossil fuels, loss of biodiversity, extinction events, warmer climates, are only to name a few. These changes have become so great that there is now debate in the scientific community to label the current period as a new geological epoch, the Anthropocene. This talk will look at the ways capitalist society has fundamentally changed the planet, it's impact for life on the planet, and what can be done. This will also discuss the usefulness of the term Anthropocene and the debates surrounding its use and definition.
