This session will be exploring a series of issues to do with the rise of far right populism, its relationship to the neoliberal centre and the long term decline of social democracy and its institutions. It will also seek to make sense of a series of election results in Europe, putting forward the case that the establishment cannot succeed in defeating the far right because it is deeply committed to the policies which have created the conditions for its growth.
